9th May is the day, when more than 250 musicians and their music will flood Vilnius.
Keeping tradition, started by singer and song author A. Mamontovas back in 2007, one Saturday in May, professional musicians and amateurs would flood into the streets, yards, public gardens and squares of Vilnius and other towns and cities in Lithuania. Armed with various musical instruments they would play rock, classic, jazz, avant-garde, folklore music and drum to the rhythms of Africa. It is a celebration of common language of music and creativity where public and musicians interact between themselves.
Pilies street will become an acoustic street from the beginning of “Street Music Day” this year. In this street during this and all the coming days of street musicians you could only hear the musicians performing live by using their instruments.
You are very welcome to visit Vilnius or other cities in Lithuania and to enjoy the music on 19th May!

Street Music Day 2012
Moreover, event organizers from Riga, Tallinn, Sankt Petersburg and Minsk, who visited Vilnius’ “Street Music Day” in 2011, decided to bring the idea back home. Having Vilnius as its cradle, “Street Music Day” did not only spread throughout the whole country, but also crossed Lithuanian boarders – the author of the idea Andrius Mamontovas helped musicians from Riga and Minsk organize this festival in their cities.
Exactly on the same day musicians from Georgia are going to express their solidarity to the street musicians in Lithuania by going out to play in the streets of Tbilisi.
If you are unable to come and enjoy the spirit of music in Vilnius, we have more good news for you, too: Lithuanian musicians will go to the streets in the following cities:
