KALININGRAD (KONIGSBERG) CITY TOUR (3 HOURS)

City tour Kaliningrad – or Konigsberg as it was named until the Soviets changed it in 1946, reflects intricate and dramatic history of this town and features, Hansa Square, former city fortifications, the WW II German command post bunker – now a museum, and, of course, the 13th century Gothic Cathedral, the symbol of the city, and Kant’s grave.

Optional

  • Cathedral Museum gives an insight into the building’s history and the area’s former life. It also has a section devoted to Immanuel Kant, the German philosopher and Konigsberg’s most famous resident.
  • Amber Museum houses a collection of amber with more than 6,000 pieces - in jewellery, boxes and some copies of parts of the legendary Amber room, part of Catherine the Great summer residence near St. Petersburg.
  • Bunker Museum. During the Second World War the bunker served as the underground command post of German General Otto von Lasch. Diagrams, maps, models and photographs illustrate the Red Army’s conquest of Konigsberg in 1945. Visitors can also see the room where von Lasch signed the German capitulation.
