Trip to Soviet missile base in Plokstine

There are not so many military sites remaining from Soviet Union that are available fro visitors to see. Soviet missile base in Plokstine forest is exceptional museum acquainting with the life at Nuclear missile base during Soviet regime. Missile base was built in sixties of 20th century and it had four R12 (SS-4) middle range nuclear missiles. You will have thrilling experience walking in low ceiling corridors, visiting cells where Soviet army officers were targetting nuclear missiles to the Western Europe countries. You will enter one of the silos where nuclear missile was installed and prepared to be launched.

The nuclear base is located in Zemaitija National Park. The sightseeing at the site takes up to 2 hours and it can be organized from Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda.
